Islamic development bank (IsDB) offers full scholarship for the student from countries that are members of the Islamic development bank and student from Muslim communities in Non-member countries to pursue their undergraduate, master degree, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research programs as well as vocational training at recognized universities for September/October 2021 intake.


  • Undergraduate: Four years
  • Master degree: 2 years
  • Ph.D. and Postdoctoral research program: 3 years

Where to Study ?

applicants are advised to get admission to one of the top universities in their own country in one of the approved fields of study in case of unavailability can apply to a university in IsDB member country partnering with IsDB.


Universities of Cambridge, Oxford, the Queen Mary University of London in the United Kingdom, Copenhagen University in Denmark, and McGill University in Canada.Ministry of Education in Malaysia, Council of Higher Education in Turkey, Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) in Morocco, National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent University of Information Technologies which have been generous enough to provide places for IsDB students on free or subsidized fees.

Scholarship benefits:

The Scholarship covers all expenses to study at Leading universities under IsDB Scholarship such as in UK, Turkey, etc, including the following:

  • Full tuition fee coverage
  • Monthly living stipend
  • Medical insurance
  • One round-trip travel cost for students studying abroad at partnering institutions plus installation and equipment allowance
  • A mentorship program for academic and social integration
  • Computer allowance and thesis writing allowance (for master degree)
  • Scientific papers’ preparation allowance for Ph.D. degree applicants

Who can apply?

  • Be a national of any Islamic Development Bank member country or Muslim communities in non-member countries
  • Candidates from non-member countries must be Muslim.
  • Educational degree requirements:
    • Have obtained a secondary education diploma (12 years of education) for undergraduate applicants.
    • Must have a minimum of 70% in the high school final GPA
    • Have a Bachelor’s degree for master’s degree (with at least 70% GPA in bachelor degree)
    • Must choose a degree program from the list among approved degree programs by IsDB (for both bachelor and master degree)
    • Applicants must meet the language competency criteria in the program’s medium of instruction as applicable; e.g., for English by TOEFL or IELTS or passing required tests proving applicants’ suitability for the program.
    • Not have received any other scholarship at the time of application or during the scholarship program.
    • Be of good health

For Ph.D. Degree:

  • Obtained a master degree in one of the approved fields of the program
  • Present a research proposal in one of the fields of study of the program indicating its scientific and development relevance to the community/country.
  • Preferably have work or research experience (Ph.D. applicants)
  • Have very good academic excellence

For post-PhD degree:

  • Have Ph.D. degree in one of the approved study fields.
  • Have a minimum (“Very Good”) academic record.
  • Have no less than two years of experience in the field of research.
  • Must indicate a record of publications/research in the same field.
  • Have a research proposal as mentioned above (for doctoral degree)

Selection Process

An independent International Selection Committee, consisting of academicians and chaired by the Senior Advisor to the IsDB President for Science, Technology, and Innovation reviews applications and runs the selection process.

The Selection Committee assesses the applicants’ qualifications and eligibility criteria and affirms the scientific and development relevance of the proposed fields of study. Recommendation for final selection is made by the committee and final selection is approved by the IsDB management whose decision is final.
